Description
IPAF Loading/unloading theory and practical instructor led training course is available at Briggs Equipment Training Academy. A complete course, giving you comprehensive theory knowledge and practical experience thus allowing you to safely and competently load unload mobile elevated working platforms (MEWPs).
Instructor led courses teach the theory to you in the training conference room in person, allowing for questions, discussions and expert explanations if required. Therefore this course has no eLearning module because all theory and practical assessments are completed with an instructor.
This IPAF Load Unload Course provides training for the safe loading and unloading of MEWPs on beavertail and slide bed transport vehicles. Loading and unloading should be carried out by trained and competent staff who are aware of the risks involved. Drivers should also be aware of the additional risk of the load, or part of the load, it’s distribution, moving when the vehicle is being driven. This applies to all vehicles and to all types of loads.
Course Objectives
- Be fully aware of the hazards associated with transporting access and plant machinery.
- Be fully aware of their responsibility and associated legislation.
- Be fully aware of safe procedures for loading and unloading.
- Be able to carry out inspections and transport related risk assessments.
- Be able to correctly position the vehicle for the task in hand
- Be able to safely and securely load and unload.
Certification
Successful candidates will receive the IPAF Loading and Unloading qualification and an IPAF Certificate of Training for this. These will both be accessible via the IPAF ePAL app, available on Android and iOS smartphones, which also includes a logbook and safety information. If a physical PAL card and certificate are required these must be arranged with the training department prior to the course start date, at an additional charge of £15 plus VAT.

The course is aimed at personnel who are or will be responsible for the load and unloading of MEWPs on a range of transportation. Candidates must be over 18 years old, hold a current IPAF PAL card for the relevant categories of machines and possess an HGV licence.
